CS2 release date update

The hype is getting real for Counter-Strike fans. After much speculation, it’s looking like the newest entry in the Counter-Strike franchise is now set to arrive.

The latest round of speculation is fueled by none other than Valve itself, which has taken to social media to tease the CS2 release date.

What is the new CS2 release date?

According to Valve’s official X account, the CS2 release date may be September 27, 2023. This has yet to be officially confirmed, but it’s all but official after the way Valve made the announcement.

The Counter-Strike account X asked followers what they were planning on doing the next week on Wednesday. That post was made on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. That means the next Wednesday would be September 27, 2023, which may be the actual release date for Counter-Strike 2.

This isn’t a total surprise. It had been made pretty clear that CS2 was going to release some time in the year 2023. But this latest update is still surprising, just because the tease is being made so close to the game’s potential release date. The launch of Counter-Strike 2 may be just days away.

It has to be said again that this could be a teaser for another teaser. Nothing guarantees that Valve will actually launch its new game on September 27. But signs couldn’t be any clearer that this is the intended release date for Counter-Strike 2.

How to get CS2 after it releases

Getting CS2 after it releases should be as simple as booting up Steam and looking up the new game. It’s likely to be heavily advertised within Valve’s digital storefront.

This is likely the most hyped game Valve has released in many years. There are few games to compare it to. There hasn’t been a new Counter-Strike game for over 10 years. Counter-Strike 2 will be only the fifth game in the franchise’s history, following Counter-Strike 1.6, Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, Counter-Strike: Source, and the most recent game, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

But even that most recent game is looking a little old now. With popular competing games like Valorant out on the market, it makes sense that Valve would look to a new release to keep Counter-Strike on top of the FPS mountain.

Whether Counter-Strike 2 can live up to the reputation of its predecessors remains to be seen. But there’s no doubting the hype that CS2 has already generated.
