What Happened in the Challengers Stage?
The Challengers Stage featured 16 teams from around the world. These teams battled it out in the best of 1 matches. The top 8 teams then advanced to the Legends Stage, where 8 other teams were waiting.
The Challengers Stage was filled with some unknown teams like Fluxo and Monte. But at the same time, there were some heavy hitters in the field, like FaZe Clan and G2 Esports. It was not surprising that G2 Esports sailed to the top of the group rankings with a perfect record. The European team crushed Complexity Gaming and made short work of The MongolZ.
ENCE is another team that was on fire and had no issues punishing OG and even managed to beat FaZe Clan in a big upset. Surprisingly, OG and Team Liquid were both eliminated, we expected better from such experienced teams. Other teams that will be progressing to the Legends Stage include Apeks, FORZE Esports, and Grayhound.
How Does the Legends Stage Work?
The Legends Stage will start on the 13th of May and run until the 16th of May. It will feature 8 teams who received a bye in the Challengers Stage and the top 8 teams from the Challengers Stage. The teams who managed to secure a bye include:
- Natus Vincere
- 9INE
- Into The Breach
- FURIA Esports
- Fnatic
- Heroic
- Team Vitality
- Bad News Eagles
It will be interesting to see if one of the above teams ends up winning the Paris Major or if a team from the Challengers Stage manages to pull off an upset. Natus Vincere are always a strong squad, especially with S1mple leading the charge, and thanks to their super aggressive and unorthodox style, Bad News Eagles can beat anyone!
What is the Champions Stage?
The top 8 teams from the Legends Stage will move to the final Champions Stage. The Champions Stage will be a single elimination bracket, and each match will be a best of 3. The Champions Stage is set to go down on the 18th of May, and the Paris Major winner will be crowned on the 21st. You definitely do not want to miss these matches! The competition will be fierce, and you will get to see the latest meta and the brand-new tactics that the top teams have dreamt up.
The atmosphere inside the Accor Arena in Paris will be electric. There are going to be over 20,000 screaming fans squeezed into the arena. Wouldn’t it be amazing if the hometown squad Team Vitality could get it done? We feel sorry for whatever team is taking on Team Vitality because they are going to cop some serious abuse from the crowd!
Who is Going to Win the Paris Major?
Based on the eye test and form in recent CS:GO events, G2 Esports are the team to beat. They have looked on fire lately and are currently undefeated in the Paris Major. They also scored a very impressive victory at the Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2023 which netted them $400,000. If we could only back one team to lift the trophy in Paris, it would be G2 Esports.
Another team with a strong chance of winning is Team Vitality. The French super team has almost $3 million in winnings and are led by uber-talented ZywOo. They are also in great form after winning the Intel Extreme Masters Rio 2023 for $100,000.
Lastly, you can never count out FaZe Clan. The American squad has won too many CS:GO tournaments to count. And even though they have had an up-and-down 2023 season, we expect them to eventually find their form and secure a big win. Don’t be surprised if they go on a run at the Paris Major!
